Questions:

Tones

During class we soldered wire onto the speaker; I got it hooked up to the Arduino and played the example sketch with pitches.h that Tom published. I did not take documentation but I swear to GOD it played tones and we even hooked it up to the oscilloscope and viewed the PWM live as a class!

Servo

I was able to load the servo sweep example which properly sweeps the servo 180° so I know the servo is running correctly.

I absolutely cannot get the force sensitive resistor to read a value to A0 in following the tutorial however. Have so much trouble with force sensitive resistors…

When I unplug everything and I println the value from A0, I’m getting random range in between 300-400 (another classmate says this is just noise and to be expected). It doesn’t change at all when I connect the FSR to A0 however. I tried all 3 of my FSRs and I’m just not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Also, I noticed the tutorial does not mention the diode at all, I picked what I think is the right part from the bin though.

Definitely the right type of capacitor based on color? A bit hard to see in the photo below (the FSR is directly below camera but is on row 25)
